GREEN RIVER – If you are interested in starting a family history project, don’t miss an upcoming program at the Sweetwater County Library in Green River.

Reference Librarian and genealogy guru Micki Gilmore will be presenting Genealogy 101 at the library on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. Patrons who wish to attend are encouraged to sign up at the library at 300 N. 1st East or by calling 875-3615.

“I will teach patrons how to start their own genealogy by showing them the standard forms and best websites,” Gilmore said. The class will focus on the library databases Ancestry Library Edition, Heritage Quest and My Heritage World Vital Records.

Gilmore has a lot of experience with genealogy.

Along with working on her own family history, she writes the library’s Roots & Branches genealogy blog, and has also volunteered on rootsweb.ancestry.com for 15 years, doing Sweetwater County research. She has taught many basic and intermediate genealogy classes over the years.

Gilmore encourages those attending the class to bring a laptop or tablet to use.

This program is sponsored by the Sweetwater County Library System.
