SWEETWATER COUNTY – Two older members of the Sweetwater County Fire Department will remain in Sweetwater County.
On Tuesday, the Sweetwater County Commissioners unanimously approved the transfer of two brush trucks from the station in Rock Springs to the Wamsutter and Bairoil Fire Departments. County Fire Warden Mike Bournazian said placing these resources will be an asset to these communities as well as the county department.
Bournazian gave his recommendation to the commissioners speaking in favor of the two communities. He said neither has a brush truck while Superior and Granger do. He said due to the large area Wamsutter has to patrol and the distances the county fire department has to travel, it is a major asset to have the apparatuses in these towns.
The trucks are between 13 and 14-years-old and Bournazian said are in good condition. Commissioner John Kolb recalled an issue with the vehicles in the spring due to the weight on the axles of the trucks. The Fire Warden said they were able to strip all the weight from the problem areas of the vehicles and they should not have any issues with them.
