ROCK SPRINGS – How many times do we hear pro athletes say how lucky they are because they get paid to play a child’s game?
When the heat of competition in sports reaches a fever pitch, many times parents, children and others involved forget it is still just a game. One event which the Rock Springs Recreation Division has put on for several years that brings back the word fun in sports in the Track and Field Fun Meets.
The first of two summer Track and Field Fun Meets will take place this Wednesday at the Rock Springs High School. It will get underway at 6 p.m. and will last about an hour. Get there early as registration for the events will start at 5:30 p.m. There is no fee to participate in the fun.
The meet is for both boys and girls, ranging in ages from 3-years-old to 18-years-old.
Events include the 25-meter dash, the 50-meter dash, standing long jump, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, joggers mile, 400-meter dash, 4×100 relay, softball throw and 800-meter dash.
The second Track and Field Fun Meet will take place Aug. 6 and will also be at RSHS. For any additional information contact the Rock Springs Recreation Department.
