GREEN RIVER – The Green River Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Name the Horses Contest for the two Bureau of Land Management (BLM) High Desert District yearling Mustangs being showcased for adoption this summer at the Visitor Center in Green River, Wyo.
This is the third year wild horses have been fostered for adoption at the Green River Chamber Visitor Center which gives people a chance to see wild horses up close and personal and also promotes the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Program. “I believe this program is a fantastic way to attract tourists to stop at the Visitor Center instead of just passing through which, in return, gives us a great chance to promote our area and all it has to offer,” says Green River Chamber Executive Director Rebecca Briesmaster. “Fostering the horses also increases knowledge about the adoption program to guest’s who visit the chamber.”
Two yearlings born at the Rock Springs Wild Horse Holding Facility and available for adoption are on display at the Visitors Center. A buckskin filly with three white socks and a white Star-Strip-Snip on her face, tag number 9903, and a sorrel and white pinto gelding with over the knee/hock white on both front legs and a white Snip on his face, tag number 9915 are being featured. Pictures of the Mustangs, along with their vaccination records can be found at: https://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/programs/Wild_Horses/grchamber.html.
You can help name the two yearlings #9903 and #9915 available for adoption at the Visitor Center this summer. Entries are accepted from Sweetwater County residents only via email: [email protected], the Chamber’s Facebook page, mail or hand-delivery to: Green River Chamber, 1155 W.
