GREEN RIVER — Tuesday night, the Green River City Council will consider approval of a special use permit filed by Wyoming.com that would allow for the construction of a 40-foot high-speed internet tower on top of Mansface Mountain.
The Green River City Council will meet Tuesday, September 21, at 7 p.m. at Green River City Hall. There will be a public hearing on this agenda item at the start of the meeting.
The proposed site is located on top of Mansface Mountain which is zoned Open Space (O) and is located within the Bronze Belt Conservation Overlay District. Development within the Conservation Overlay zones require special use permits. issued by the Governing Body.
According to meeting documents, the Bronze Belt Conservation Overlay District is intended to protect the bluffs, buttes, rock formations and hillsides in the City of Green River that enhance the beauty and provide a visual backdrop.
In accordance with Section 7.2 of the Green River Zoning Ordinance (Conservation Overlay Zones), development and land use within the conservation overlay districts shall be guided by the ability to comply with certain planning policies for the environment including protecting wildlife habitats, minimize disturbances to the environment, and ensure the health, safety, and welfare of city residents is protected.
The Planning and Zoning Committee unanimously recommended approval of the special use permit on September 8.
