GREEN RIVER– The City of Green River Parks and Recreation Department will submit for a 2020 Wyoming Emergency Insect Management Grant to help offset cost for the city-wide mosquito control program.
Last week, the Green River City Council unanimously approved for Parks and Rec to submit for the grant.
This is a 50/50 grant that provides supplemental help in managing emergency outbreaks of insect pests for the protection of human health and safety.
During the summer months, the City of Green River sprays for mosquito control, and this grant will aid in funding that mosquito control program. This grant will help pay the part-time seasonal employees who are hired to help with the mosquito control.
In the past, this grant has been used by the city to buy an additional mosquito sprayer, according to Reed Clevenger, Green River City Administrator.
