COACH’S CORNER

Q: What are your initial thoughts about this upcoming season?

Eyre: “For the girls our strength is the depth of our team. We have a solid group of girls that will be battling it out for varsity. We have some exciting newcomers that are forcing our returnees to work for it and they are. Several have experience from last fall where they held the lead on day one at state. They are hungry for a championship and they put the work in this summer.

Our boys have several solid upperclassmen that have a little more experience from last fall. They know what they want to do for individuals finishes and a stronger team performance. We have several new boys that really got to work for the summer and are making our whole roster work even harder to get into that top five.

My coaching staff, volunteers, parents, the community, and the Rolling Green Golf Club members have been absolutely paramount in the success of this program. We have fantastic kids that are thriving because of all the support we have.”

Q: How do you compare against the competition in your conference?

Eyre: “My expectations for the girls are to be the strongest team in the field. They are capable of being top finishers at every competition this fall. There are many respectable teams that will be vying to knock them off that spot if they don’t keep themselves focused and driven. I 100 percent believe in them because of how badly they wanted it last season and fell short. That was their motivation throughout the spring and summer and it shows in their performance now.

For the boys to be in the top three our upperclassmen have to step up as use their experience for a strength. We have a talented young group of newcomers to challenge them and push for a much better finish at all of our upcoming tournaments. They put in much more time as a whole and it is definitely showing.”
