GREEN RIVER — Harry B. Pappas, 88, of Green River, Wyoming passed away on June 23, 2015 at the Mission at Castle Rock in Green River, Wyoming. He had been a long time resident of Green River, Wyoming.

He was born on November 22, 1926 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of the late Louis Pappas and Bella Xaniphon Pappas.

Mr. Pappas attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

He was a United States Marine Veteran of World War II and Wyoming National Guard.

He married the former Sophia Curtis in Rock Springs, Wyoming on July 15, 1950 and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2003.

Mr. Pappas was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. He later was employed by the Green River Police Department and Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office and had worked in Law Enforcement for a total of thirty-eight years.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

His interests included spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include one son Scott Pappas and wife Olympia of Littleton, Colorado; one daughter Vaslie Leventis and husband Chris of Green River, Wyoming; one sister Thearo Kostakis of Apple Valley, California; four grandchildren Christopher Leventis and wife Ivana of Jackson, Wyoming, Nicholas Leventis of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Andrew Pappas and Sofia Pappas both of Littleton, Colorado; sister-in-law Teddy Dolas and husband John of Longbeach, California; several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister Mary Pauline.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 405 “N” Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Father John Cusulos will officiate. The Trisagion will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 East Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, Wyoming. Military Honors & Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel on Thursday one hour prior to the Trisagion and on Friday, one hour prior to funeral services at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel.
