Lady Tigers Positive About Regionals

ROCK SPRINGS – It is time for all the work and lessons learned in the regular season to come into play as volleyball teams begin post-season tournament play this weekend.

While their record does not show it, the Rock Springs Lady Tigers are entering Regionals playing solid volleyball. Despite a small let down in the final weekend, the ladies played some of their best volleyball against Lander and Natrona the week before.

Rock Springs lost to Evanston and Jackson in the final weekend of the regular season. On Friday, the ladies fell to the Red Devils, 25-14, 25-14 and 25-16. The following day, they played better but were swept again, 25-16, 25-21 and 26-24. Coach Stephanie Hardesty was also disappointed after showing such progress last time out.

I was disappointed in our level of intensity against Evanston and Jackson,” Hardesty said. “I know our team has improved in certain aspects of our game but we didn’t show it this weekend.  It was frustrating because I know our team can play better.”

The ladies don’t have to wait long to improve over one of the teams as the open the 4A West Regional Tournament against Evanston on Friday. The game is set for 11 a.m. in Evanston.

The Lady Red Devils enter as the third seed with a record of 20-10 overall and 6-4 in the conference. Evanston has won both matches this season against the Lady Tigers but as coach reminded fans, it is a new season.

“This week for Regionals everyone is 0-0, upsets happen all the time,” coach explained. “I know the girls can do it. They seem very positive and ready to play.”
