UPDATE ON SERVICES — Laython E. Batey, 69, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.  A longtime resident of Green River, Wyoming and former resident of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mr. Batey died following a three-year battle with lung cancer.  He was surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 20, 1947, in Herrin, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Myrtle Batey.
Following cremation, a celebration of his life will be held 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Hampton Inn, 1901  Dewar Drive, Rock Springs, Wyoming.

GREEN RIVER — Laython E. Batey, 69, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A longtime resident of Green River, Wyoming and former resident of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mr. Batey died following a three-year battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 20, 1947, in Herrin, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Myrtle Batey.

Mr. Batey attended schools in Carlsbad, New Mexico and graduated with the class of 1965. He married the love of his life Evelyn “Darlene” Batey on March 3, 1965, in Pecos, Texas and went on to work in the Coal and Trona Industry for forty-eight years.

His interests were guns, reloading, hunting, camping, football, spending time with his family and his “fur” baby K.C.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Evelyn “Darlene” Batey of Green River; two daughters Lynn Paxton and husband Jeff and Lori Rockwell and husband Donnie all of Green River; one son Laython “Gene” Batey, Jr. and wife Hollie of Rock Springs, Wyoming; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two more great-grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Duran Socash and Pat Cox.

Cremation will take place, and memorial services will take place at a later date.
