ROCK SPRINGS — Linda Malone, a Green River woman accused of killing her husband last year, is back in Sweetwater County and is being held in the Sweetwater County Detention Center.
The detention center jail roster notes Malone was booked Friday, nearly two months after her arrest in Arkansas. She was originally arrested in Arkansas June 9 by U.S. Marshalls after a bench warrant for her arrest was issued.
Malone was ordered to return to Sweetwater County by June 3 following a series of events where she was quietly discharged from the University of Utah Hospital and traveled to Arkansas to be cared for by her brother’s family. District Court Judge Suzannah Robinson said during a previous hearing that Malone never provided the court with an updated address.
Malone was sent to Utah for medical care at the start of the year after an apparent self-inflicted fall from a second story mezzanine at the Sweetwater County Detention Center. She was discharged from the University of Utah Hospital and sent to a rehabilitation center, but the hospital never informed anyone of the discharge. She was released to a facility in Tennessee, where family picked her up and transported her to Arkansas to care for her.
Malone faces a Second Degree Murder charge and three felony charges of Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult following the Sept. 2025 death of her husband, former Green River High School teacher and Sweetwater County School District No. 2 Trustee John Malone. She is accused of attacking her husband with a liquor bottle and not immediately calling emergency responders when he began to suffer from his injuries. She eventually did call 911 and John Malone was transported to Salt Lake City, but later died while in the hospital.
