ROCK SPRINGS — It started as a vision seven years ago to enhance and beautify the memory care unit at Sage View Care Center. After several failed starts, Tim Savage contacted BOCES Executive Director Bernadine Craft, and the ball started rolling. BOCES provided all the art supplies and Dr. Craft knew just which artists to commission for the project – Pamela Sipe and Chrissy Pruett. Sipe and Pruett were “thrilled and honored” and accepted the challenge.
Sipe used photographs of the wild iris area near Lander as inspiration. During the over 1,000 hours dedicated to the project both women bonded with the residents and staff as they painted a mountain meadow bursting with spring flowers creating a mural spanning the entire entryway of the memory care unit. The idea was to not only beautify the entrance but to deflect residents from fixating on the doors. “The result is stunning,” said Craft. She thanked the artists and EMPRES for their commitment to enriching the lives of Sage View’s residents.
Nicki Markisich and Tammi Wilkerson organized the reception honoring the artists, their accomplishment, and BOCES contribution.
