She was born on June 13, 1949 in Green River, Wyoming, the daughter of Joe Mares and Katie Bernal.
Mrs. Garcia attended schools in Green River, Wyoming and graduated from Green River High School.
She married Gene Garcia in Evanston, Wyoming on August 11, 2000.
Her interests included crochetting, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her mother Katie Mares of Green River, Wyoming; husband Gene Garcia of Green River, Wyoming; one daughter Natalie Jones of Boulder, Colorado; three brothers Danny and Bruce Mares, both of Green River, Wyoming and Joe Mares of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three sisters Shirley Cordova and Beverly Holcomb, both of Green River, Wyoming and Tina Zimmel of Lake Havasu, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her father Joe Mares; one daughter Melanie Jones and two brothers, Alex and John Mares who died in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive in Green River, Wyoming. Reverend Denis D’Souza will officiate. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Green River. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 A.M.,Friday at the church. Friends may call at the church Friday morning prior to services.
