ROCK SPRINGS — Stardust Entertainment, formerly Star Stadium 11, is expanding its movie theater into an arcade, bowling, and dining destination set to open Aug. 28.

The 29,000-square-foot expansion, called The VOID, adds more than 50 arcade games, six lanes of interactive bowling, a grill and lounge with alcohol service, private party rooms, and an arcade redemption area to the existing movie theater.

Part of the expansion was built into space acquired from the mall’s former storage garage, and the back corner near the bowling lanes was the last remnant of the old Walmart before the mall was built. The theaters that occupied part of the space were removed to make room for the addition; the remaining theaters stayed in operation.

The arcade includes games such as skeeball, air hockey, basketball, and football alongside the standard arcade machines, and winnings are loaded onto a card rather than issued as physical tickets.

The bowling lanes use a projector and camera system to overlay games onto the lane that tracks the ball’s movement. Jonathon Crawford, general manager of Stardust Entertainment, demonstrated a game in which robots were projected onto the lane and a multiplier was added to the score for each one knocked down by the ball.

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for Friday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m.
