ROCK SPRINGS — The Open Range Restaurant and Bar, a 60-year fixture inside the Best Western Outlaw Inn, reopened Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony after a years-long closure tied to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Owner Devin Singh bought the hotel and restaurant in October 2018. The restaurant closed March 17, 2020, after the business was unable to offer curbside service during pandemic restrictions, and Singh said labor shortages kept it closed for roughly three years afterward.
“We summoned up the courage, and the demand from the community and from the guests” pushed the reopening forward, Singh said.
“Throughout the pandemic, Devin and I were insistent that this whole place, with its history in Rock Springs, wasn’t going to go by the wayside,” said Tully Reill, assistant manager.
Planning to reopen the restaurant began earlier this year, and cleanup started the last week of March. The process took about four months.
Singh described the restaurant as steakhouse, offering steak, prime rib, pasta, sandwiches and burgers, along with a full bar stocked with more than 10 liquors and beers from Wyoming.
For now, the restaurant is offering dine-in service and phone orders only. Singh said online ordering and reservations are coming soon, and the business may add delivery through DoorDash, though that decision hasn’t been finalized.
