PINEDALE — A Thayne woman was arrested after being released from St. John’s Medical Center following a head-on collision that claimed the life of a Pinedale man on New Year’s Day.
Jade Sierra Jewkes, 28, was traveling northbound on Highway 191 in her Jeep Cherokee around 3:15 pm when she drifted into the southboard lane and collided head-on with a Ford F-250 driven by 39-year-old Shane Nicholas Deal of Pinedale.
Both drivers were taken by ambulance to the Jackson hospital and Deal later succumbed to his injuries, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck.
Jewkes was treated and released, and then immediately booked into the Sublette County jail for vehicular homicide.
Beck also said that both individuals were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision. Jewkes was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and the WHP is investigating alcohol as a possible contributor to the accident.
All parties are considered innocent until proven guilty.
