Police arrest man for allegedly pointing gun at ex-wife

ROCK SPRINGS – Police were summoned to Lewis Mobile Home Park at 1620 West 2nd Street in Rock Springs for a report of a woman having a gun pointed at her in her house by her ex-husband on July 13 around 11 a.m.

Police arrived and took Roger Joe Hammontree, 36, of Rock Springs into custody without further incident.

Investigation revealed Roger Hammontree had arrived at the home of his ex-wife on the morning of July 13.  Roger Hammontree became involved in a verbal altercation with his ex-wife and he withdrew a handgun from his waistband during the argument and pointed the firearm at her head.

The victim was able to summon police during a brief period when Roger Hammontree had left her alone.  No injuries were reported.

Roger Joe Hammontree was arrested for Aggravated Assault and Criminal Entry and incarcerated at the Sweetwater County Detention Facility.  Bond has not been set as of July 14.
