ROCK SPRINGS – A multiple county mitigation plan is in the works and the groups want your thoughts.
The meeting on the Regional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan will take place on June 20 at the Sweetwater County Emergency Management Offices, 731 C St., Bldg. A, Suite 131. It starts at 5:30 p.m. and officials are estimating a end time of 7 p.m.
Region 4 counties, including Lincoln, Sweetwater and Uinta are developing a regional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan in 2016 to build community resilience and comply with the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.
The plan identifies hazards such as floods, drought, wildfires, severe weather, earthquakes, and landslides among others and assesses their potential impacts to people and property. A series of public meetings is being held to discuss the plan and solicit input on ideas to mitigate, or reduce, the impacts of hazards before they occur again.
All are welcome to attend, learn more about the plan, and participate in the process.
The public can also provide input to the plan via an online survey that will close June 30th athttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WYRegion4Survey.
