ROCK SPRINGS – We often hear the statement I am going to start working out and exercising which is usually followed with an excuse why it is just not possible, whether it is time, work schedule or cost. Every excuse has been given why you can’t, but now the Rock Springs Parks and Recreation Department is giving you an excuse to start.
On Tuesday, the Rock Springs City Council approved a request from the Parks and Rec Department to have its annual summer membership special day. The one day event will be on Friday, June 20 at the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center and Civic Center.
Any patron who purchases a one-month, six-month or one-year membership, on this one day only, will receive an additional month free. This is the only special of its kind that the department conducts each year. One membership, per person, couple or family is allowed.
The department usually does this on June 21, but, since that date lands on a Saturday, the department moved it to June 20 because they are open for longer hours and can better serve customers.
The council also approved a request to allow contestants of the National High School Finals Rodeo free access to the indoor rec centers. The dates they requested for the contestants to gain free entry into both centers are from July 11 to July 20. Only the contestants will be allowed free access to the centers.
