ROCK SPRINGS – Families who use the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center received good news Tuesday night as the Rock Springs City Council not only voted to keep the daycare summer hours but to make them permanent year round.
This past year the Rock Springs Parks and Recreation Board has been monitoring the numbers at the Wee Care Daycare at the RSFRC. In a letter to the council, Vice-President Stephanie Madsen informed the council the summer hour probationary period has ended. She explained to the council the numbers throughout the summer probationary period have been strong enough to become permanent.
The council followed the Park and Rec Board recommendations and unanimously approved the Wee Care Daycare summer hours to become a permanent use at the center.
Hours at the daycare are from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. For more information call the RSFRC.
Summer membership drive
Every summer, the Rock Springs Parks and Recreation Department picks a day to do an annual summer membership special. On Tuesday, the council approved June 22 as the day.
Park and Recreation Director Dave Lansang asked that the drive be on Monday, June 22, at both the Rock Springs Recreation Center and Civic Center. Any patron who purchases a one-month, six-month or one-year membership on this one day only, will be able to receive an additional month free.
Lansang said this is the only special of its kind that the department conducts each year. One membership, per person, couple or family is allowed. Lansang explained they normally do this promotion on June 21, but that is a Sunday.
“We would like to do on Monday, June 22 since we are open for longer hours on weekdays and can serve customers better,” he said.
