UPDATE: According to the Rock Springs Police Department, of the 17 vehicles reported stolen in the last three months, five were later determined to be unfounded. Of the 12 remaining stolen vehicles, seven have been recovered. Compared to the same time frame last year when 11 vehicles were reported stolen, four of which were later determined unfounded and five vehicles were recovered.
ROCK SPRINGS — With the Rock Springs Police Department (RSPD) reporting 17 stolen vehicles in the last three months, the department is reminding residents to lock their vehicles.
According to a Facebook post from the RSPD, the vehicles involved in these thefts were unlocked with the keys left inside, including several that were left running to warm up in the cold temperatures.
The police department is urging all vehicle owners to keep your vehicles locked whenever you are not in them.
In order to prevent yourself from being a victim, remember to Lock it or Lose it! Lock your doors and take your valuables with you.
The public is encouraged to call 307-352-3575 or 911 to report any suspicious activity.
