ROCK SPRINGS — Sweetwater County School District No. 1 was recently approved for $15,000 in Career and Technical Education Cutting Edge Grant funding from the Wyoming Department of Education. 

The grant will support a new project, “Engineer Your Own Drone: UAS Engineering and Emerging Technology,” which will launch the first stage of a proposed high school pathway focused on unmanned aircraft systems engineering. The project will help students learn how to build, configure, troubleshoot, and improve unmanned aircraft.

“This grant provides an exciting opportunity to expand the career and technical education experiences available to our students,” Interim Superintendent Paul Grube said. “Students will have the opportunity to work with emerging technology while developing hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and technical skills that can connect directly to future education and career opportunities.” 

The district says the grant will support the development of emerging opportunities in career and technical education.
