The library’s Winter Reading Program, “Snow is Falling, Books are Calling,” starts Nov. 30 and runs through Jan. 30. Programs are available for children, teens, and adults. “The purpose of the reading program is to encourage kids and adults to read throughout the holidays and the winter months,” said Lindsey Travis, public relations specialist for the library system. “All you have to do to participate is sign up and read books, then you’ll be eligible to win prizes.”
Those who sign up for the program will be given logs to track their reading. For the kids’ program, children can bring their reading log back to the library when they reach the halfway point and they’ll receive a prize. They will receive another prize when they complete their full log. For the teen program, which is for kids in 5th grade and up, participants will receive and entry in a prize basket for turning in completed reading logs.
For the adult program, participants will receive a prize – a glass coffee mug – when they turn in their first completed reading log, indicating that they read five books. For each log participants turn in they will receive an entry into a prize basket drawing.
The Youth Winter Reading Program is sponsored by the Sweetwater County Library System and the Sweetwater County Library Foundation.
