SWEETWATER COUNTY — The United States National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Special Weather Statement for both Sweetwater and Lincoln counties.
According to the statement from the NWS Riverton office this morning, “very windy conditions” are expected to start this afternoon and continue through late tonight.
Residents in Sweetwater County and southern Lincoln County can expect 25 to 35 mph winds with wind gusts up to 45 to 50 mph coming from the west.
A cold front is also expected to move through southwest Wyoming later this afternoon. Strong westerly winds will develop ahead of that front and will continue behind the front for up to six hours. Winds are expected to shift slightly from westerly winds to northwesterly winds.
