Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Issues Change of Season Safety Reminder

Springtime is here again. Watch out on those roads.

SUBLETTE COUNTY — Spring Break kicks off this week for both Sublette County school districts! As we enjoy this early spring weather, you may notice a lot more kiddos enjoying the outside. Just a few reminders to pass along to your little ones…

* Follow all traffic laws just like any automobile when you’re on a bicycle:
– Stop at stop signs, yield to pedestrians, use hand signals, ride on the RIGHT side of the road (if you’re riding in the street)
– Wear a helmet! Better safe than sorry
– If trying to cross a busy street, head to the nearest crosswalk, get off your bike and walk it across the street.
– Wear bright clothes, especially if you might be riding in low light

* Cross at crosswalks!
– You have the right-of-way at the crosswalks, but CARS have the right-of-way everywhere else.
– Always look both ways for traffic before stepping into the street
– Never chase a run-away ball or toy into the street without being extra careful

**Adults**
We’re in that weird time of year where the sun is glaring directly into your eyes if you’re driving east in the mornings, and west in the evenings… slow down and take extra care when driving around. Spring means babies in the wildlife world, which means more things to spring out onto the roadway. Be careful!
