Those Taking Advantage of SWCSD No. 1 Early Notification Incentive up for Approval on Monday

ROCK SPRINGS – In February, the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees approved an early notification incentive program. On Monday night, the board will vote on approval of the certified staff who have decided to take part in the program.

The board approved a $500 incentive to those certified and administrative personnel who gave the district early notification they would not be returning next school year. Staff had to have their names submitted by March 7 to be eligible. The program is similar to incentives approved by the board the past couple of years.

On Monday, the board will vote on those who have decided to participate in the early incentive program. Included on the list is current Human Resources Director Megan Mentzel and Director of Special Education Ludean Henderson.

The district has said several times this one-time $500 incentive is intended to assist the District in managing the hiring process to the greatest benefit of the student. By hiring for vacant positions at the earliest possible time, the district has a better chance to attract the most highly qualified candidates.

The specific date of payment of the $500 is left unstated. The district could pay it immediately upon receipt of the irrevocable statement of intent or delay payment to a later time.
