Theresa “Teri” Alice (Velikaneye) Demas, 80, passed away peacefully Monday, January 2, 2023 of natural causes in Saint Anthony, Idaho. Where she resided the past two years at Homestead Assisted Living Center.
Teri had a strong will and spicy personality up until the end of life. Her body was weak and broken. She was tired and ready to meet her loved ones and our Heavenly Father.
She was born on October, 26, 1942 in Leadville, Colorado to Joe and Louise Velikaneye. She spent most her life in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She married Nick Demas Jr. on November, 28, 1958 in Randolph, Utah.
She was extremely gifted in crafts, crocheting, and loved music. Teri was best known as Mrs. D. where she co owned D.J.’s bar. She was a ceramic teacher in her younger years at a shop she owned on H Street. She retired in Hernando, Florida where she resided 10 years. These were some of her happiest years. She loved Florida but her health required her to move back to Wyoming. In Idaho she looked forward to her daughters frequent visits and was extra happy when her granddaughter Desirae visited.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Swenson and (Lee) of Cora, Wyoming; son, Nick Demas III of Lake Havasu, Arizona and (Brenda); sister Pauline Brown of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and brother Paul Velikaneye and (Linda) of Aurora, Colorado; granddaughter’s Desirae Saathoff of Pinedale, Wyoming, Lacey Hays and (Dustin) of Bar Numm, Wyoming, and Alexis Carroll and (Taylor) of Pavillion, Wyoming; grandsons, Nick Demas IV and (Kelsey) of Sheridan, Wyoming, Darrell and (Taelir)) of Casper, Wyoming, Nathaniel Demas of Gillette, Wyoming; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband Nick Demas Jr., daughter Lori Demas, grandson David Southerland Jr., mother and stepfather Louise and Stanley Myska, father Joe Velikaneye Sr., brother Joe Velikaneye.
Cremation has taken place. Teri requested no funeral. A Celebration of Life is on June 24, 2023 at the Broadway Theater, 618 Broadway Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming at 12:00 p.m.
