Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a lifelong resident of Sweetwater County, and I taught for Sweetwater County School District #1 for 28 years. I retired from the classroom in 2021. I continue to coach high school football and I’ve just started season number 29, I have also coached track at the high school and junior high level and I continue coaching at RSJH.
During my teaching career, I taught grades K-12, and my final 23 years were at the secondary level where I taught a variety of business classes. I was also the director and a teacher in the RSHS Energy Resources Academy for my final 10 years.
I’ve served on numerous boards including: the Rock Springs Amateur Hockey Association, Wyoming Coaching Foundation, Wyoming Coaches Association, and the Wyoming Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
During my tenure serving the RSAHA, I was the treasurer from 2007-2010. I served as a Football Representative for four years, an At-Large Representative for three years, and I was the Executive Treasurer for the WFC and WCA from 2015-2019.
I’m the father of three young men that I am very proud of: Riley, Kyler, and Drew.
What do you see as the most important issues in your candidacy and how will you address them?
I believe the most important issues in my candidacy include transparency, communication, and consistency.
If I’m fortunate enough to get elected, I want to be as transparent to my staff and constituents as much as possible. If I don’t have the answers to specific treasurer-related topics, I will do my absolute best to research and lean on those who may assist me in finding the answers.
I believe in any public or private organization, communication is the key to success. I will be willing to listen from all angles when a problem arises. I want the public to know that I will have an “open-door policy” when there are issues that need to be resolved. I will also count on the people who have worked in the treasurer’s office who have the experience to trouble shoot and share ideas.
Finally, I want to be consistent. I believe this office will require a level of consistency that will build confidence, trust, and fairness for the people of Sweetwater County.
