ROCK SPRINGS – Pastor Scott Shields announced this summer a change in the staff for Little Lambs Preschool which serves children ages 3-to-5 years of age. Betty Blackwell will be the Director/Teacher. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern University in Chicago and has over 25 years experience working with children from birth to 5 years of age. Twenty-three of those years were with the Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center as a pediatric physical therapist. She has many credits in continuing education courses in the fields of regular education and special education and working with families. This will be her second year at Little Lambs Preschool and she is looking forward to implementing new programs this fall.
Lynn Young is returning after working during the 2010-2011 school year as a classroom teacher’s aide. Lynn has over 8 years experience working with preschool children including work as a rural librarian where she set up innovative programs for children.
Children must be 3 years old by September 15th, 2013 to be eligible for the 3 year old program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The 4-5 year old classes meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning the day after Labor Day. The preschool has chapel once a week. All developmental areas are covered based on the High Scope Preschool curriculum and based on education standards from the Wyoming State Department of Education and as well a Christian curriculum outlined by the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Licensing is done by the Department of Family Services.
