Trujillo, Rodriguez Sentenced to Prison in December Kidnapping

Eugene Trujillo and Gabriella Rodriguez will both be doing prison time after changing their pleas in the felony kidnapping of a 10-year-old Idaho child.

GREEN RIVER — Two people involved in the December kidnapping of an Idaho juvenile have both changed their pleas and will now face prison time for their crimes.

Eugene Alvin Trujillo and Gabriella Ann Rodriguez, both of Pueblo, CO, were arrested on December 12 after an Amber Alert was issued for a 10-year-old child reported missing from Idaho Falls, ID the day before. Rodriguez is the mother of the child, but she no longer had legal custody.

The child was eventually found unharmed in a broken down vehicle along Highway 430 just outside of Rock Springs, and Trujillo and Rodriguez were arrested for kidnapping. During their respective arraignments earlier this year, both pleaded not guilty.

The maximum penalty for felony kidnapping is 20 years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both. However, the couple received reduced prison sentences in exchange for pleading guilty to the charges.

Trujillo was sentenced to 5-10 years in the Wyoming State Penitentiary this week in Third District Court. Earlier this month Rodriguez received an 8-13 year sentence in the Wyoming Wyoming Center in Lusk. Both will get credit for time served in the Sweetwater County Jail.
