RIVERTON — Two Wyomingites died after injuries they sustained in a one-vehicle rollover near Riverton Friday, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP). Two other passengers were also injured in the wreck.
On February 26, at 10:26 am WHP troopers were notified of a one-vehicle rollover around milepost 8 on Wyoming 134 north of Riverton.
A 2011 Kia Sorento was traveling westbound on Wyoming 134 when the vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the eastbound lane, the press release states. The driver overcorrected to the right and back to the left before the car rolled over.
The Kia occupants who were fatally injured in the crash have been identified as 25-year-old Saint Stephens, Wyoming, resident Janelle V. Warren and 30-year-old Fort Washakie, Wyoming, resident Kyle B. White. White and Warren were not wearing seatbelts and succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash. The other vehicle occupants have been identified as 27-year-old Saint Stephens, Wyoming, resident Tristan L. Yellowplume and 18-year-old Lander, Wyoming, resident Redmoon S. Prior. Yellowplume and Prior were not wearing seatbelts and transported to the Sage West Riverton for injuries sustained in the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing to determine who was driving the vehicle. Speed is being investigated as a potential contributing factor.
This is the 17th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 11 in 2020, 18 in 2019, and 10 in 2018 to date.
