William “Bill” Clark Hulen died peacefully at a hospital in Southern California on February 2, 2021 after a life long battle with heart disease.

Bill was born November 17, 1951 to parents Woody & Betty Jean Hulen. He was raised primarily in Pinedale, Wyoming, where he learned his passion for the outdoors.

At 16, Bill enlisted in the United States Army. After basic training in Georgia, he was deployed to Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he learned to run heavy equipment, clearing jungle for landing strips, and remote bases as well as filling an active combat roll.

He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Bill was an extremely proud Army Veteran. S

everal years after returning home from Vietnam, he married Victoria Shaw. He worked at Black Butte Coal for over 25 years as a drag line operator.

Bill’s true love in life were his children Shawna and Mike. The three of them spent countless hours Kokanee fishing at Flaming Gorge in the summer time where Bill was his happiest.

He spent the last chapter of his life in the Pacific NW and Southern California appreciating time with grandchildren. He deeply loved his four Grandsons, Mikey, Calvin, Elliot & Jack McCullough. He made sure he went to as many of their baseball games and school functions as possible; he was their number one fan.

When not spending time with family, Bill enjoyed trying new tweaks on his pellet smoker, gardening, and spending time with his dog Nellie.

He leaves behind two brothers, Richard and Bob Hulen; his daughter Shawna McCullough, husband Joe and their four sons Mikey, Calvin, Elliot and Jack, as well as son Mike Hulen and wife Cassandra Vincelette. Additionally, several nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Woody and Betty Jean, as well as his sister, Carol Dockter.

Bill’s ashes will be spread in his favorite places; the Skagit River, the Flaming Gorge and the Windriver Mountains.
