Welcome to #WOLVESTALK – a SweetwaterNOW exclusive series where Green River High School Wolves inspire our community by telling their stories in their own words.
I am Jacoby Bundy. I’m 17 years old and a senior at Green River High School. I have been playing golf since I was a kid, but I started playing competitively 4 years ago. I started playing golf because I enjoy being outside and competing. Golf has taught me patience, focus, and how to stay positive even when things aren’t going my way. I also enjoy playing with my friends, kids my age and people a lot older than me. They have all taught me a lot about golf and other things.
I have put in countless hours at the course in the off-season. Some days I would be there from sunup to sundown. I would practice a bunch of shots on the course, but I tried to focus on trying to hit more consistent iron shots. However, the most important thing that I practiced was my mental game and staying focused.
I have had a lot of awesome moments during my time on the golf team. In my first ever tournament, I almost made a hole-in-one, and I also made my first birdie. Another favorite memory was holing out for an eagle on hole 1 in Riverton. Being able to go to Jackson and playing Teton Pines was really cool, but my most favorite thing has been watching my scores improve during my senior year.
With all of the work I have put into getting better, I have achieved quite a few goals. One of the first goals I wanted to accomplish was to get more consistent with my swing and ball striking. Another goal that has helped me improve is learning to recover from a bad shot. But the goal I most wanted to achieve was lowering my average score.
My only plans as of right now are to finish high school and work at the golf course until I figure out what I want to do.
Go Wolves!
