WWCC Aquatic Center to participate in The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Tuesday, June 18

ROCK SPRINGS – The Aquatic Center at Western Wyoming Community College will help try to set a new Guinness World Record by participating in The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ on Tuesday, June 18.

The Center will join other water safety and training organizations around the world as part of the effort to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim. Participation in this event is free. Those wishing to sign their children up for a lesson are asked to call Director Cindy Hafner at (307) 382-1694 or email her [email protected] for times and details.

Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, which is the second-leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14. Research shows if children do not learn to swim by the third grade, they likely never will.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created to serve as a platform to help local community aquatic facilities and the many different national, regional and statewide water-safety and drowning-prevention organizations work together to tell this important story on a local and national level. Western Wyoming Community College and the Aquatic Center are proud to serve as a local participant in this important effort.
