UPDATE – According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation the Interstate is now open to Rawlins.
SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Wyoming Department of Transportation advises travelers and motorists eastbound on Interstate 80 that the road has been closed due to weather conditions between Rawlins and Laramie.
This closure is referred to as a dry road closure and is enforced when communities east of Rock Springs, such as Rawlins, can no longer accommodate the amount of motorists stranded due to weather closures.
This prevents travelers from flooding smaller communities and becoming stranded without proper accommodation.
The road will reopen once conditions improve on the east side of the state.
WYDOT would like to remind drivers that when there is ice and snow, take it slow.
