Geo-Note!
LARAMIE –Because of the tilt of the Earth, the Solstice, we have seasons. For the Summer Solstice (June 21), the rays of the Sun shine directly on the Tropic of Cancer, an imaginary line north of the equator. This is the longest day of the year for the Northern Hemisphere and marks the beginning of summer. Solstice means ‘sun standing.’ The tilt of the Earth’s axis reaches its maximum angle compared to the Sun, and begins to move back the other direction.
