ROCK SPRINGS — An 11-year-old youth did not survive injuries sustained in an ATV rolled over accident east of Rock Springs over the weekend, according to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office.

According to information provided by the SCSO, sheriff’s deputies, Rock Springs Police Department officers, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers and local EMS/fire personnel responded to the accident just northwest of Baxter Road at roughly 7:20 p.m. on Saturday.

The report states that a 2013 Honda TRX680 was travelling along a two-track road when for unknown reasons, the ATV exited the roadway, lost control and overturned.

The ATV’s driver was not wearing a helmet and was pinned under the vehicle for several minutes. Efforts to revive the juvenile at the scene were unsuccessful, and the driver was pronounced deceased.
