Indian Hills Drive Project Set to Start Soon

GREEN RIVER — Construction on Indian Hills Drive will start next week according to the City of Green River and residents in the area are invited to a public meeting explaining the project.

The meeting takes place Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. at Indian Hills Park and gives residents an opportunity to meet the contractor and city representatives, along with a chance to ask questions about the project.

The work is the first phase of a larger project and will start with the installation of a water main on Shoshone Avenue and will continue up to Indian Hills Drive. From there, work will move towards Apache Avenue and beyond. The water main work will continue as long as weather allows. The project’s second phase will begin in 2027.

The city plans to move equipment, materials and traffic control signs starting Aug. 10, with temporary water main installation beginning Aug. 17. On Sept. 1, installation of the water main begins, with temporary traffic disruptions expected until the water main trench is backfilled and compacted. Residents living in the work area may have to contend with temporary access and parking restrictions as work progresses.

The project is funded through the sixth penny specific purpose sales tax.
