CHEYENNE — The Wyoming Highway Patrol and the Wyoming Department of Transportation performed snowplow escorts from Cheyenne to Laramie on WYO 210 around a crash that has closed Interstate 80.
These escorts were only for commercial trucks transporting essential COVID-19 (Coronavirus) supplies defined as water, food, heating oil, motor fuels, propane, agricultural products, agricultural supplies, livestock and poultry, livestock and poultry feed, forest products, removal of waste or for providing restoration of utilities.
For westbound traffic, they met at the gate at 2:30 pm on I-80 at Mile Marker 357 Roundtop Road just west of Cheyenne. A trooper met them at Roundtop and WYO 210 and they were escorted by a snowplow. They had their bill of lading ready to present the trooper.
For eastbound traffic, truck drivers were asked to stage at mile maker 318 on I-80, just east of Laramie at 3:30 pm. Again, troopers met drivers at that location.
This same escort service happened again at 4 and 4:30 pm.
