SWEETWATER COUNTY — Wyoming was hit hard with wind over the past few days and Sweetwater County was no exception.
According to the United States National Weather Service Riverton Office (NWS), as of Tuesday, April 5, at 9 p.m., the western and central areas of the state saw between 50 mph to nearly 90 mph winds in the past 48 hours.
Green River reported the highest wind gust in the county at 65 mph. The Rock Springs airport came in second at 63 mph. Farson had the least impact from the wind at 50 mph.
As for the highest wind gusts reported in this area of the state, there was a three-way tie at 88 mph at Hiland in Natrona County and Jackson Hole – Summit and Surprise Pinnacle in Teton County. Click here for the entire report.
According to the NWS, strong winds will continue across portions of central and western areas of the state through Wednesday.
