Alan Brent Swan, 78, of Rock Springs, WY passed away while surrounded by his family on September 2, 2021, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born August 1, 1943, to Willard McKean Swan and Ruth Agnes Peck in Salt Lake City, UT. He attended schools in Salt Lake and graduated from South High in 1961. Alan served 2 tours of duty for the United States Navy as an ordinance mechanic during the Vietnam War where he received multiple awards for his service to our country. When he returned, he started working as a computer technician for the Burroughs (later known as Unisys) corporation.

He met his beautiful wife, Sally Rawson and they married in 1976. They welcomed their first child in 1979 and he was transferred to Rock Springs, WY later that same year. He retired from Unisys and started working for SCSD#1 transportation department in Rock Springs and later became the assistant transportation director. Alan was an avid bowler, golfer and was known for his skills behind the grill. He loved rock -n- roll and enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his grandchildren brought him great joy. Alan was recently reunited with his daughter, Christeen who he lost contact with when she was one year old.

He is preceded in death by his mother, his father, and his brother Gary. He is survived by his children Christeen Miller (Brian), Lori Shuley (Michael), and Randy Swan (Lauren), 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Alan’s family will be hosting a celebration of life on July 17 at 4 pm at the Lakeview church in Grantsville, UT (163 UT-112 Grantsville, UT 84029). Following this service, there will be a military send off and then a BBQ. They plan on celebrating his love of rock n’ roll and serving people delicious food.
