ROCK SPRINGS — Despite a challenging year, the YWCA’s annual Festival of Trees will continue on.
The event’s silent auction bidding starts Nov. 13 and ends Nov. 19 at 7:45 p.m. Residents can bid on gift baskets, home decorations and small trees and can participate through the auction website and visit Commerce Bank from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to see the items in person.
The live auction takes place Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at Commerce Bank. The live auction will feature paper bidding, with people interested in winning one of 10 trees being required to enter their bids in person. Bidding will end at 7:30 p.m. Other fundraisers are planned, including a 50/50 raffle and the Making Spirits Bright wine and spirits pull. All proceeds will support the YWCA’s domestic violence and sexual assault programs.
The Festival of Trees is the annual holiday kickoff for the YWCA, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The past year saw the YWCA close its childcare offerings due to community and financial changes, though the organization has since rented out its Jackson Street building to two childcare spaces. The YWCA says the move allows it to focus on domestic violence and sexual assault services while helping support childcare availability.
