ROCK SPRINGS – Bark in the Park and Touch a Truck highlight a busy day of things to do in Sweetwater County on Saturday.
Bark in the Park pet fair and adoption event gets off to a bright and early start at the Rock Springs Bitter Creek Bark Park. The event kicks off with the Paws-n-Sneakers 5K run/walk. There is on-site registration for the 5K which starts at 6:30 a.m. The race gets underway at 8 a.m.
The Long Dog Derby Dachshund races will start at 9:30 a.m. with registration starting at 8:15 p.m. Other events include a puppy cake walk and pet games. There will also be several vendors providing pet care products and education to residents.
Dogs will be required to be on a leash in the park and the little dog park will be used for those dogs who need to get off their leashes and run for a bit.
Touch a Truck
Saturday will mark the third year of the Touch a Truck event. It gets underway at 10 a.m. at the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center and will go until 1 p.m. The event is free.
Parents and children can get an up close look at some of the amazing commercial and industrial vehicles throughout the area. It also gives the public a chance to meet some of the local operators while exploring the capabilities of the vehicles.
The Pied Piper
What do you do when your town is overrun by ravenous rats? You call the Pied Piper! Take a trip to Hamelin Town this Saturday, June 14th with the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) and 49 local students as they perform an original musical adaptation of the classic tale, “The Pied Piper”.
“The Pied Piper” will be presented at 5:30pm on June 14th at the Rock Springs High School. Admission is FREE and open to the public courtesy of SBOCES.
KD Walk
This Saturday, residents are urged to join the KD Foundation Walk. This is a huge community event sponsored  local businesses.
It starts at 10 a.m. at the Young At Hearts Senior Center on Saturday and will be followed by a BBQ to all participants. The KD Foundation is a non-profit organization built to help and support the local children with juvenile diabetes here in Sweetwater County. The KD foundation raises funds to send kids to diabetes camp, provide medical alert bracelets, medical grants, and award college-bound, graduating diabetic seniors with a scholarship if they are continuing on to college.
Sweetwater Events Complex
The second day of the Red Desert Futurity, Derby and 5D barrel racing competition will be going on in the indoor arena. There will also be a gun auction in the Small Hall starting at 10 a.m.
Sweetwater County Library Systems
At the Rock Springs Library, the Master Gardener series will continue at 10:30 a.m. This weeks feature will be “garden tools.”
Learn how to navigate the back country this summer at Dick Blust’s backcountry navigation class from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Sweetwater County Library in Green River.
American Legion Baseball
The Green River Knight Invite will be in day two of competition at both Vets Park and Stratton Myers  Park.
