TORRINGTON – The Green River Wolves continued its run to state as they scored 21 points in the second half to come from behind to beat Torrington, 28-14.

The defense, led by Blake Waite, would be strong in the win. They only allowed 200 yards in the win. Offensively, the Wolves put up 360 yards of total offense. Chance Hofer threw for 145 and ran for 77. Candon Croft rushed for 77 yards and had 59 yards receiving. Drew Wilson finished with 76 yards on the ground.

Green River scored first on a pass from Hofer to Wilson. The Trailblazers responded in the second quarter as they scored and with the two-point conversion went up 8-7 at the half.

It would be the Green River Wolves that struck first in the second half. Chance Hofer would find Candon Croft for 48 yards to set up a run by Drew Wilson for six. The score gave the Wolves the lead, 14-8.

The Wolves avoided trouble after committing two special teams penalties and went back to work at the end of the third quarter.

Hofer found Devin Love to move the ball to midfield. Drew Wilson broke a first-down run and followed it with a 15-yard reception to move deep into Torrington territory.

Hofer found Croft from 25-yards out. However, a penalty took points off the board. The Wolves went right back to work and Croft  broke a big run with seconds remaining in the third as Green River jumped up 21-8. The nine play, 91-yard drive but the Trailblazers on their heels.

After another stop, the Wolves iced the game. Hofer found Cole White for 24 yards to set up the Wolves final score of the night. Torrington scored late and have a chance to cut it to seven, but sacks by Gabe Bunderman and Waite would secure the win.
