UPDATE 12:31 p.m. – According to Union Pacific no life threatening injuries resulted from the train crash that occurred on the night of March 14th around 9:45 p.m.
The crash was between a westbound intermodal train hauling containers and a coal train.
The National Transportation Safety Board is now leading the investigation.

UPDATE – The wreck occurred at 9:45 p.m. last night, according to the Union Pacific. A team from the National Transportation Safety Board is en route to the scene to begin investigating.
Union Pacific representatives referred all questions to the NTSB explaining that it was standard protocol after the NTSB has taken over the investigation.
The NTSB declined to comment because teams are still en route.

GRANGER — According to reader reports, a train wreck has occurred between Granger and Tronox. We have received these photos of the scene and are awaiting more information from officials on the incident.
The photos show derailed cars including some that have been crushed. No word yet on any injuries or the extent of the damage.
