Early Notice Means Added Cash at SWCSD No. 1

ROCK SPRINGS – Certified employees of Sweetwater County School District No. 1, who plan on leaving at the end of the year, now have a good reason to tell the district early.

On Monday, the SWCSD No. 1 Board unanimously approved a one-time incentive of $500 to certified employees and administrators who notify the district early they will not be returning next year. There was no discussion by the board before they approved the proposed incentive. This is similar to ones passed the last few years by the board.

Only 20 employees will be able to take advantage of the extra money. The first 20 certified staff or administrators that provide written notice to the District’s Human Resource Department will get the additional $500. Notices must be at the office by 4 p.m. on March 7.

The incentive is to assist the district in managing the hiring process. Officials said it will benefit students, staff and the district by filling vacant positions at the earliest possible time to attract the most highly qualified candidate.

  • Melissa Caceres was hired to fill a first-grade position at Stagecoach Elementary for the rest of this school year.
