Ethel Elizabeth (Fawcett) Nauman (August 31, 1932 - September 28, 2026).

On September 28, 2026, Ethel went home, peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Idaho City, Idaho on August 31, 1932-her mother’s birthday. Ethel was the second child of Clarence Arthur Fawcett and Ruth Savage Fawcett. When she was two years old, her family moved to Esterbrook, where she spent her childhood in the mountains. Ethel loved living in the mountains, close to nature.

She had a special love for animals. Her brother Russell and she were the only two students in their country school.

After graduating from high school in Douglas, Ethel married Laurence E. Nauman, Jr. (Larry). They shared 51 years, raising eight children.

Ethel and Larry owned and operated a highway fencing company, which took them to various locations across Wyoming. After moving to Rock Springs, they started an asphalt paving company, Sunrise Construction. Ethel worked alongside Larry, even driving dump truck. This was in a time when very few women drove truck. She was a trailblazer.

Upon retiring, Ethel and Larry moved to Arkansas, where they raised a menagerie of exotic animals, including miniature horses, donkeys, fainting goats, pigs, emus, and llamas. She loved them all.

Following Larry’s passing in 2003, Ethel returned to Wyoming to be near family. For the next 20 plus years she lived an example of her faith by serving others. Her service included, delivering meals on wheels, serving as a senior companion, visiting residents in the senior care facility nearly every day. She even took her miniature horse to entertain them.

Ethel was a dedicated mother. Her love extended beyond her own family, to include neighborhood children and even employees, who considered her “Mom.”

Among her many talents, she was an artist, a poet, a seamstress and an avid reader.

Ethel leaves behind seven children, 25 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, and 41 great great grandchildren, a great legacy to her love of family.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, C. Arthur Fawcett and Ruth Fawcett; her brother, Russell Fawcett; husband, Larry Nauman; and her oldest daughter, Amy Elaine Nauman Garner.

True to her humble nature Ethel requested no services be held for her. Please remember her for the life she lived, the people she served, the family she loved and the faith that guided her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
