ROCK SPRINGS — The Rock Springs Fire Department (RSFD) and Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1 (District No. 1) plan to work together to obtain a nearly $345,000 grant from the Federal Assistance to Firefighters.
The Rock Springs City Council is scheduled to meet at its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 17, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
During the meeting, the Council will review a memorandum of understanding between the City of Rock Springs, RSFD, and District No. 1. Under the MOU, the RSFD and District No. 1 will purchase radio equipment of their fire stations, apparatus and personnel through funding from the grant.
If the grant application is approved, the RSFD would receive around $222,000, while District No.1 would receive around $123,000, for a total of nearly $345,000.
The grant does require a 10 percent match from both agencies. The RSFD’s match would be around $22,000, while District No. 1’s match would be around $12,000, for a total match of a little more than $34,000.

Other Business
The Council will review a request from the Parks and Recreation Department for permission to move forward with the acquisition of various water well components to rehabilitate Well #5 and #6 at the White Mountain Golf Course. The rehabilitation is estimated to cost around $52,000.
Under presentations, the Council will hear from Mark Tesoro of the Southwest Wyoming Off Road Trails group.
Under proclamations, the Council will proclaim January 23-29, 2022, School Choice Week.
