ROCK SPRINGS — Rock Springs High School senior Charles Fossey will continue his running career after he graduates this spring.

Fossey signed his letter of intent with Chadron State College (CSC) last Thursday with family, coaches and teammates in attendance.

“I thought Chadron fit me the best,” Fossey said.

Coming into distance running later than normal, Fossey has made an impact for the Tigers in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field over the last few years. During his career at Rock Springs he has been named All-State in cross country twice and just recently placed second in the mile during the indoor track season.

“It’s been a journey, but it’s been great,” Fossey said.

While there were several other schools competing for Fossey’s talents, he ultimately chose CSC because of the smaller population which meant smaller class sizes which was appealing to him. He also mentioned that the facilities and team just felt right.

While in the middle of his final outdoor track season of his high school career, Fossey hopes to continue to work hard as he competes for a state title and leave a positive example for the up and coming runners that will follow in his footsteps.

Fossey said he will bring a strong work ethic to CSC and is eager to help serve the distance team.

While he is undecided on what his major will be, he plans to make that choice sometime soon.
