SWEETWATER COUNTY – Sweetwater County Commissioner John Kolb asked an interesting question to the Sweetwater County Fair Board Tuesday night.
Kolb asked what it would cost for the Sweetwater County Commissioners to sponsor a day at the fair.
On several occasions during the discussion and even before the discussion started Kolb emphasized he is doing this as a single commissioner and not as a representative of the whole commission.
The commission-sponsored day would allow residents free admission to the fair for one day.
“I don’t know if it will go anywhere,” Kolb said noting the idea recently came up in conversation.
Kolb explained to the board he would need a solid number for the costs for the entire day before he approached the rest of his fellow county commissioners with this idea. He said he would need it before budget talks start for the upcoming fiscal year.
Kolb said so many times people are bringing up the fact the fair used to be free. He also added the complex is owned by the residents of Sweetwater County and this would be an opportunity to give something back for the years of community support.
Complex Director Larry Lloyd said he would start compiling the numbers and get a number back to him.
